Clarivein

Mechano-chemical ablation of veins — the ClariVein catheter

ClariVein is a modern, gentle and highly effective method for removing varicose veins that combines the advantages of mechanical and chemical vein treatment. This innovative technology enables the treatment of varicose veins on an outpatient basis, without the need for conventional surgery, general anaesthesia or lengthy recovery.

The ClariVein procedure works on the principle of inserting a thin catheter into the affected vein, the rotation of which gently disrupts the inner wall of the vein. At the same time, a sclerosing agent is applied, which seals the affected vein, prevents further blood pooling and allows the body to create a healthy vascular network.

A major advantage of the ClariVein method is that it is performed without thermal energy, so there is no risk of burning surrounding tissues and tumescent anaesthesia is not required. This makes the procedure quick, gentle and very comfortable for the patient.

Before & After

How does the Clarivein procedure work

  • First, you undergo a thorough examination and ultrasound diagnostics, during which the doctor precisely determines the extent of the affected veins and plans how the procedure will be performed.
  • This ensures that the entire affected area is properly treated. The procedure itself begins with local anaesthesia at the puncture site — no general anaesthesia or lengthy preparation is needed.
  • The doctor then inserts a special thin Clarivein catheter into the vein, whose rotation gently disrupts the inner wall of the vein, preparing the vessel for closure.
  • At the same time, a sclerosing agent is applied into the vein, which seals and closes the vein walls.
  • The entire process usually takes only 20 to 40 minutes, depending on the extent of treatment.
  • Unlike laser or radiofrequency methods, Clarivein requires no thermal energy, so there is no risk of burning surrounding tissues and no need for complex cooling or tumescent anaesthesia.
  • After the procedure, the patient rests briefly, receives care instructions, and can go home the same day.
  • No hospitalisation or lengthy sick leave is required — simply wearing compression stockings and following a few guidelines is sufficient.
  • Thanks to Clarivein, varicose vein removal is quick, safe, and minimally burdensome, allowing you to return to everyday life soon with the feeling of light and healthy legs.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the procedure take and is it painful?

The procedure usually takes 30 to 60 minutes and is performed in completely comfortable conditions. We apply a numbing cream before the treatment, so you only feel minimal discomfort.

When will I see the first results?

You will usually notice the first improvement within a few days to weeks after the initial treatment. For optimal results, we recommend a series of sessions according to an individual plan.

What is the cost and how many sessions will I need?

The exact number of treatments and total cost are determined after an initial consultation with our specialist. Typically, it involves 3–6 sessions at intervals of several weeks.

Are there any risks or contraindications?

The procedure is among the safest methods. Before the first treatment, we will discuss your health condition and evaluate any contraindications. Slight redness at the injection site is common and subsides quickly.
