Arm modelling or brachioplasty is an aesthetic-surgical procedure that addresses loose or excess skin in the arm area. It is most commonly performed in patients after significant weight loss or at advanced age when the skin loses elasticity and sags. The result is smoother, firmer and more youthful looking arms.

How does arm modelling work?

  • Prior to the procedure, a consultation with a plastic surgeon takes place to assess the condition of the skin, fat layers and overall health of the patient.
  • The procedure itself is usually performed under general anaesthesia and takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours.
  • The surgeon removes excess skin and possibly fatty tissue. The incision is usually made on the inside of the arm, where it is less visible.

Before and after

  • The procedure brings a visible change in the arm area - the removal of excess skin leads to slimming and firming. Patients often describe a significant increase in self-confidence and greater satisfaction with the appearance of their body.
  • After the procedure, it is recommended to rest and wear elastic underwear for 6 weeks. A return to normal activities is usually possible within 2 weeks, and physical activity is recommended to be postponed for 4 to 6 weeks after surgery.
  • Recovery is relatively quick, although temporary swelling and mild discomfort should be expected. The scars are usually kept discreet and fade over time. Thanks to modern suturing techniques, a very aesthetic result can be achieved.
