Surgical removal and correction of scars

We can effectively address unsightly scars

Scars are a natural part of healing, but they don't always heal perfectly. They can be noticeable, thickened, retracted, painful or interfere with facial expression or mobility. In some cases, they are also aesthetically distracting.

At the Medical Institute, we offer plastic-surgical scar correction, which allows you to soften, reshape or completely remove scars. We always design the procedure taking into account the type of scar, its location, the condition of the skin and the client's expectations. The aim is to achieve the least noticeable and functionally and aesthetically natural result.

What can we solve with plastic scar correction?

  • Thickened and bulging (hypertrophic) scars
  • Recessed, retracted or retraction scars
  • Wide or asymmetrical scars after surgery or trauma
  • Facial scars that distort expression or facial expressions
  • Scars from acne, burns or caesarean section
  • Keloid scars - in combination with other methods (e.g. corticoid injections, pressure therapy)

We are specialists in surgical scar treatments

The procedure is performed by an experienced plastic surgeon who carefully evaluates the type of scar, the tension in the area and the natural lines of the skin. Based on this, they will choose the most appropriate incision technique, repositioning the scar or completely excising and re-stitching it so that the wound can heal as discreetly as possible.

We use delicate suture materials and modern surgical approaches to soften and reduce the visibility of scars. If necessary, the procedure can be combined with other methods such as laser treatments, shockwave, or injection therapy.

For whom is surgical scar correction suitable?

  • For women and men who are visually or functionally impeded by a scar
  • For clients after an unsightly healing surgical wound, injury or inflammation
  • For people who want to soften or reposition a highly visible scar
  • For patients who have exhausted the possibilities of conservative care (ointments, silicone, biostimulation)

How does the procedure work?

  • The procedure is always preceded by a personal consultation with a plastic surgeon, who will assess the type of scar, its width, depth, location and options for correction.
  • The procedure is usually performed under local anaesthesia and takes 30-60 minutes, depending on the extent. In the case of larger scars or a combination of procedures, short-term general anaesthesia may be required.
  • After excision or release of the scar, the surgeon re-stitches the area with respect to the natural skin lines. The stitching is very fine and often absorbable.
  • Healing takes place within a few days, the scar gradually changes and the result settles down within a few months.

Before and after

  • The scar is less visible, softer and more aesthetically acceptable after the procedure
  • Tension in the surrounding skin is relieved or mobility is restored in the scar area
  • The overall appearance of the skin is improved and thus the patient's self-confidence
  • The resulting effect is permanent - the scar will not disappear completely, but it will be significantly less disturbing
