How does abdominoplasty work?

  • Before the procedure itself, a consultation with a plastic surgeon is held to assess the amount of excess skin, the condition of the abdominal muscles and the overall physique. Based on the examination, the surgeon will recommend the most suitable option for the procedure - classic or mini-abdominoplasty. The procedure is very often performed in combination with liposuction, which enhances the result of the surgery even more.
  • The procedure takes approximately 2-3 hours and is performed under general anaesthesia. During the surgery, excess skin and fat are removed, the abdominal muscles are strengthened and the position of the belly button is adjusted as needed.
  • After surgery, a short hospitalization (1-2 days), wearing compression underwear and resting. Return to normal activities is usually possible after 10-14 days, sports after 6 weeks.
