How does the procedure work?
- The plastic surgeon will assess the condition of the skin, the amount of subcutaneous fat and the structure of the neck (e.g. the muscle bands of the platysma). He or she will also explain the appropriate method, extent of the procedure and type of anaesthesia.
- The surgeon makes the incision according to the chosen technique - under the chin, behind the ears or combined. It then removes excess skin and any fat, tightens the muscle structures and stitches the wounds with absorbable sutures.
- During the healing period, the surgeon monitors the client's condition, recommend appropriate care (wound care, limiting physical stress, wearing compression devices) and arrange follow-ups.
- Cool compresses can be used to help the swelling subside more quickly.
